Hello! We are glad to welcome you to the Snowbirds Quilting website! We are Ron and Pam Varga.

I (Pam) began my first quilt in high school many years ago. I’ve been loving sewing and quilting ever since. I come by my love of sewing and fiber arts naturally. My mom and both of my grandmothers sewed, knitted, crocheted, etc. I had so many opportunities to see them enjoy their passions and to learn from them.

In the meantime, Ron loves all things on the design side of creativity. He designs and builds clocks, automata (see those here, my favorites are “The Art Critics” and “Meals on Wheels”), and various puzzles, etc. on his CNC machine, laser cutter, and/or 3D printer. So, when we decided to dive in and purchase a computerized longarm quilting machine, it was a perfect fit for our combined interests. Digitizing quilting designs is very similar to the designing Ron does for his other computerized machines.

Why the name, "Snowbirds Quilting?" A couple years ago we decided to flee the cold, gloomy winter of Michigan and ended up in southern Arizona, a wildly different enviromental experience but where the sun seems to always shine. Even though we are gone for a few months we continue to work, I sew quilt tops and Ron works on the quilting designs.
